Snap-on Industrial has introduced another model of the TechAngle Electronic Torque Wrench, which is now available with a cycle-counting feature. This feature provides critical information, which helps to keep a count of the required number of calibration cycles in instruments used for measuring torque.
The TechAngle wrench has been developed to do the work of four torque wrenches. The user can set the angle of rotation and assign the torque value in foot pounds, Newton meters or inch pounds. The electronic wrench then uses an inertial gyroscope to calculate the angular rotation and also measures the applied torque.
The cycle counting feature of the torque wrench is ISO standard 6789:2003 certified. It defines the annual calibration requirements for torque wrenches or for 5,000 cycles i.e. each applied torque equals one cycle. If there are less than 5000 cycles, certain industries calibrate the torque wrenches for the entire year for easy scheduling. Certain torque instruments and applications, which apply over 5000 cycles, may require more frequent calibration.
The internal cycle counter in the Electronic Torque Wrench tracks the cycle count and notifies the user when the 5,000 cycles count has reached and that the wrench may need calibration.
An added advantage of the TechAngle Wrench is it eliminates need of gauges or protractors required to measure the angle of rotation, thus providing accurate and fast angle-plus-torque tightening sequences. The instrument is available in square-drive sizes of 1/2”, 3/8” and 1/4“.
Additional benefits and features include a non-slip, comfortable handle which provides a strong grip, a flex-head ratchet which moves in an angle of 15O, and a rugged and splash proof design to protect against shocks, water and chemicals. Routine maintenance is eliminated due to the sealed ratchet head design.
