Talon Air, an aircraft management and full-service private jet charter company has implemented a new perimeter-warning system in two of their hangars for preventing the possibility of costly repairs and accidents to aircrafts when they are being moved inside the hangars.
Talon, which is based at Republic Airport (FRG) in Farmingdale in New York has installed this system consisting of Redscan laser-scan detectors developed by Optex for warning hangar operators and pilots when the plane comes within eight feet of the hangar walls.
Adam Katz, who is the CEO, President and Founder of Talon Air has revealed that the company gives great importance to maintenance of safe, clean and advanced facilities. He further mentioned that the Optex system is a powerful and cost-effective method of reducing the potential damage to either facilities or to the aircrafts, all the while permitting the free movement of personnel everywhere inside the hangar.
With the help of the value-added safety measures, the planes could be protected from any damage, either during entry or exit. This would also mean reduced insurance premiums. The scanning system utilizes four Redscan RLS-3060 laser scanners which would help to detect a moving object’s distance, speed and size from the detector and also make sure that the aircraft mechanics along with the hangar personnel have access to the perimeter area. The scanners would create a 200 foot wide detection area which would act like an invisible area. Strobes and sounds would be set off the minute any object comes into the laser’s span. Talon had chosen Grid Squared Systems, which is an Optex Redscan Certified System Integrator for determining a solution to cater to the unique safety requirements.
