BASIS Science has unveiled the details of its Basis B1 band that will be launched towards the end of this year. The Basis band is a health and heart rate tracker that operates with a web-based private dashboard to assist people to stay and grow healthy.
The Basis B1 band examines the heart rate regularly, together with movement as well as other physiological metrics. It gathers a range of sensors together in a wrist-worn device that can be used day and night.
Jef Holove, CEO of BASIS Science, said that measuring the heart rate continuously helps to understand the health condition and by combining this process with data from the company’s sensors, an individual’s activity can be tracked.
The Basis B1 band, besides monitoring heart rate, utilizes its sensors to count calories burned, sleep patterns and amount of physical exercise. The optical engine, which traces heart rate by guiding light into the skin to view actual blood flow, is the technical centerpiece of the tool. It is complemented by four sensors, including a 3-axis accelerometer that documents activity and movement, galvanic skin response sensors that track the power of activity by calculating sweat levels and two heat sensors that trace ambient and skin temperature changes.
The Basis technology is designed with a water-resistant feature. The display supplies real-time metrics including heart rate. The modular design features transferable bands to suit color and style preferences. The advanced technology of the Basis B1 band sensors supplies a comfortable foundation of data that can be loaded into a cloud-based service from where users can see a personalized dashboard of their accomplishments and results.
BASIS Science will showcase its Basis B1 band on September 27 at Health 2.0's Launch! series in San Francisco.
