Elster, a provider of gas and water control, electricity and measurement devices has announced the release of the advanced model of the Q4000 electromagnetic water meter. It has been redesigned to include a battery pack that can be replaced for longer meter operating life.
The Q4000 is an easy-to- install device developed to measure the flow of cold potable water with a pressure loss system that ensures that the system pressure remains optimal thus preventing bursts and reducing pumping costs.
The improved version of the Q4000 water meter solution has been launched in the Middle East and European markets. It is ideal for utility applications such as commercial billing and network monitoring.
The bi-directional pulse communications feature makes it compatible with other meter reading and data logging equipment. It is encased in an IP68 certified waterproof unit that prevents water ingress and protects it from any damage. The highly accurate device does not require frequent service visits because of its reliable battery life. Its battery pack has been specially designed to extend its operating life making it best suited for use in hot climate applications and in warmer climates such as in the Middle East. The meter in the upgraded Q4000 model offers a sampling rate of just 0.5 s, which ensures highly accurate reading.
The regional general manager of the water metering business at Elster, Gary Vincent stated that customers can focus more on reducing leakage or working on an effective water distribution system since the new Q4000 model is a durable device which lowers service interval.
