Tovatech has introduced FlowCal 5000 digital liquid flowmeter for use in the HPLC pumps. The liquid flowmeter is equipped with a single chip microcontroller and is operable with +/- 1% accuracy of calibrated flow rates. The company’s liquid flowmeter weighs about 12 oz and meets the FDA standards for OQ, PQ and IQ validations on the HPLC pumps.
Dr. Robert Sandor, Director of Tovatech, said that the FlowCal 500 flowmeter is more accurate and faster when compared to the timers in which fluid is collected manually for volumetric or gravimetric measurement in the HPLC pump flow rate calibrations. Sandor stated that the flow of liquid ranging from 0.05 to 25 mL/min is irrespective of the liquid type having viscosity up to 10 cP. Sandor added that a backlit LCD and built-in RS232 interface are used to display the four digit rounded rates and complete six digit output readings respectively. Sandor stated that the company’s flowmeters are calibrated either using a UKAS traceable calibration certificate at 1 mL/min or based on the customer specified flow rates ranging from 0.05-25 mL/min. Sandor said that the company provides FDA with the required re-certifications annually.
The designed Tovatech’s HPLC liquid flowmeter can be used at the end of the HPLC flow system. The product’s package is provided with a mounting kit for mounting the flowmeter in standard wide-necked reagent bottles, wall or stack mounting positions, or for table. An optional thermal printer, cleaning kit and carrying case are also provided with the flowmeter package. The liquid exposed parts of the flowmeter are made of PEEK, PERFLOUR, PTFE or Pyrex for operating with commonly used HPLC solvents.
