Independa debuts innovative health, safety and activity monitoring solution at the mHealth Summit 2011 being held in National Harbor, Maryland. The Artemis platform is designed as part of the company’s integrated telecare suite solution for the independent elderly and their caregivers – both family members and professionals.
The Artemis solution will be integrated with Independa’s in-residence social engagement platform, Angela and the Caregiver Web App. The Angela platform is a touchscreen-based personal interaction device that provides single-touch access to health metrics reporting, calendar planner, email connectivity, favorite websites, games, puzzles, web chat and Facebook. The Independa Caregiver Web App is a cloud-based solution that allows caregivers to remind care receivers to keep their social and medical appointments, take medications and also record their "Life Stories." It helps caregivers to remotely track the well-being of the recipients.
The new Artemis monitoring solution is designed for the non-tech savvy elderly people. It supports monitors that are preconfigured to the day-to-day challenges and activities of the individuals. The solution includes a blood pressure cuff, a glucometer, an ear thermometer, a pulse oximeter, and a weight scale. It also includes a panic button, door sensor, pressure pad, and passive infrared motion sensor. The Artemis contains sensors for detection of carbon monoxide, smoke, and room temperature, toilet flushing, and flooding. The sensors are of the wireless type and will be connected to the Internet. Independa will combine the information for processing.
In Artemis, Independa will also include Smart Medical Home Hbox Hub and other wireless telehealth sensors from Boston Life Labs. The combination of applications and technology in Artemis will help fragile seniors to lengthen their period of independent living.
