austriamicrosystems, a global designer and producer of analog ICs for industry, medical, consumer and automotive applications, has declared that the company has been supplying increased volumes of smart proximity and ambient light sensors along with discrete proximity sensors systems to be employed in four Samsung Galaxy series such as Galaxy Gio, Galaxy Neo, Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Mini.
These proximity and ambient light sensors play a significant role in the display management of smartphones by automatically adjusting the brightness to suit the present light environment and controlling of the on/off status of touch panel and display while the smart phone is kept near the ear.
These sensor systems ensure high reliability, ultra small form factors, increased accuracy, and reduction in power consumption, when these sensors are integrated to the tablet PCs and smart mobile phones. Apart from the four Samsung Galaxy models, austriamicrosystems’ ambient light and proximity sensors can be integrated with Samsung’s Galaxy S II series smart phones having MEMs microphone interfaces for ensuring optimized audio quality. With the relationship between the company’s technology and Samsung, Samsung strives to develop the superior successful smart phones incorporated with austriamicrosystems’ sensor technologies in future.
John Heugle, austriamicrosystems’ Chief Executive Officer, stated that the company is pleased to support Samsung by providing its technology services. Heugle added that since Samsung receives continuous industry share, the company is proud to collaborate with Samsung in delivering devices with sophisticated features. Heugle said that the integration of company’s sensors in the mobile phones and PCs ensures improved performance to the user.
