Magellan Receives 2012 Innovation Award for Its Wireless GPS Imaging System

Magellan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MiTAC international, was honored with an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Award for its wireless back-up imaging system. Since 1976, the honorable Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are of high value to the company.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a producer of the international CES, the world’s biggest consumer technology tradeshow, is the sponsor for these prestigious innovations awards. The company’s products are judged by a top panel of independent industrial engineers, designers and media members to honor the outstanding engineering and architecture of the cutting edge electronic products that comes under 32 different product divisions.

The company’s wireless imaging system is attached to the rear license plate of a car to transmit the captured images directly to one of the multiple 7 ”. of the company’s GPS unit, which transforms the display onto a rear view screen. This system ensures the vehicle’s driver to view the object kept behind it through the rear view monitor, which is set in rear view mode by the Magellan navigator, when the vehicle drives in reverse direction. The back-up imaging system is featured with a broad-angle view lens having 100° and 120° vertical and horizontal viewing area, which is ideal for viewing pets, toys, other vehicles and children.

The 2012 International CES tradeshow will be conducted during January 10-13 in the year 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Innovations Design and Engineering Awarding ceremony will be presented with the honorees of different product divisions in the Venetian Ballroom. The Innovation Awards will also be presented at the Official Press Event of the International CES on January 8 of the year 2012.

The Innovation award winner is selected by the judges on the basis of certain criteria such as aesthetic and design qualities, unique/novel attractive features, intended use/function and user value of the products, engineering qualities, technical specification and materials employed.
