Navman Wireless has declared that Telit Communications, a provider of machine-to-machine wireless technology, has acquired Navman Wireless’ subsidiary, the OEM Solutions business, which designs and produces global positioning system (GPS) modules.
The Foothills Ranch, California-based OEM Solutions business mainly sells the GPS modules. With the sale of the OEM Solutions business, Navman Wireless can now focus on its growth-oriented asset management and fleet tracking business that accounts for more than 90% of the sales of the company.
The OnlineAVL2 fleet tracking and asset management suite of Navman Wireless facilitates fleet managers across the world to perform real-time monitoring of asset and vehicle location, while reducing operating costs related to vehicle, labor and fuel. System reports and maps, provided under a software-as-a-service model, facilitate fleet management by highlighting issues, including personal vehicle usage, unauthorized stops, inaccurate timesheets, and idling while enhancing dispatch efficiencies and maintenance schedules. Communications between drivers and dispatchers are streamlined by the integrated navigation and mobile dispatch terminals.
The President and Chief Executive Officer at Navman Wireless, TJ Chung stated that OEM Solutions has helped for the company’s success for the past several years. The company has increased its installed base three folds within a few years and has extended into new verticals and markets, he said. This sale enables the company to divert its resources and time to its worldwide fleet and asset management business, he added.
