CAS DataLoggers has announced the availability of a new user guide for its wireless T&D RTR-500GSM Mobile Base Stations.
The guide will help customers to address common issues faced during product setup. It provides configuration and setup guidelines for quickly setting up the cellular base stations. The guide covers a number of topics, including connection and initial settings wizard, FTP, settings for email, warning reports, and troubleshooting text message failures.
The T&D RTR-500GSM base station can be employed as a base unit for RTR-500 series of wireless data loggers. The station has the ability to communicate wirelessly with GSM phone networks. It is especially useful in places where LAN connections are not possible. The base unit can communicate and manage all the data loggers that are within its wireless range as long as it is within the range to receive cellular phone service.
The device can be used to monitor humidity and temperature during a truck’s movement from one place to another. The base unit can be placed in the truck’s cabin and remote units can be placed in compartment containing cargo for monitoring the humidity and temperature. Similarly the unit can be used in all remote transportation scenarios.
In these situations, when the measurements exceed or fall below a specified value a warning report can be sent by the RTR-500GSM through SMS or e-mail to specified numbers or addresses. Lamps or sirens can also be connected to the external contact output connector, which will get activated when a critical situation occurs to warn personnel in the vicinity of the occurrence.
The wireless communication range between the remote units and the RTR-500GSM is around 150 m when there is no obstruction in between. Usage of a repeater can expand the range of communication. The data recorded by the remote units can be downloaded into the base station and sent by FTP or email. In around two minutes, 16,000 readings can be downloaded.
