CAS DataLoggers has supplied Lascar EL-USB-Lite USB Temperature Data Loggers to a large milk supply company in the US. The cost-effective device is designed to protect the freshness of the milk by monitoring its temperature during its shipments.
The milk supplier has to deliver milk to far-off, remote destinations, including supermarket chains and regional markets. The journey takes an average of three to five days during which period the milk has to be maintained within 2°C to 3°C. Variations in milk temperature can lead to spoilage.
The Lascar EL-USB-Lite USB temperature data loggers were installed in the back of the trucks, and Lascar EL-DataPad hand-held data collector & programmer devices were provided to drivers. The temperature data loggers have the capability to measure temperature across a -10°C to +50°C range, with an internal resolution of 1ºC and an accuracy of ±2.5C. The device features green and red LED flashing modes that are related to the alarm level and logging status. The alarm thresholds are user-settable. The data logger is compact and lightweight and measures 2.67” in length and 0.72” in width. The device is powered by a lithium coin cell battery that lasts for a month.
The USB interface in the data logger facilitates easy setup and allows quick data download. The Lascar EL-DataPad hand-held data collector & programmer device allows users to rapidly configure the logger, and then download the information for viewing on a 2.8” TFT display. This eliminates the need of a laptop PC for downloading and analyzing the data. The DataPad features easy navigation and touchscreen menu options. It can view data from 100 loggers and can store data from 400 units. The data can be transferred to PCs and can be imported into spreadsheet packages. Lascar provides free EasyLog Windows control software, which can be used to view the data as graphs.
