CAS DataLoggers in partnership with best selling manufacturer T&D is announcing the upcoming release of a new firmware update for the RTR-500GSM Wireless Data Logger Cellular Base Station later this month that adds compatibility with T&D’s RTR-505TC and RTR-505Pt temperature data loggers.
This mobile base station utilizes a GSM cellular modem to send SMS messaging and warning report mails, guaranteeing that owners always stay on top of sudden changes in their critical measurement data. The RTR-500GSM serves as a Base Unit for T&D’s versatile RTR-500 Wireless Data Logger Series, and when in communication range for GSM cellular phone service, it can be used for transmitting data and warnings--perfect for tracking data while in transport, whether in the mountains, on the sea or in any other remote locations.
T&D offers compact, rugged dataloggers for temperature, humidity, and voltage/current available in wireless, USB and Ethernet models. With the RTR-500GSM Cellular Base Station equipped with GSM cellular phone network capabilities, T&D’s flexible 500 series of low-cost monitoring solutions can automatically send data and alarms via cellular phone networks for remote or in-vehicle data collection. Using the built-in wireless communication capability, the RTR-500GSM can also periodically and automatically download the data from all of its remote units so that users can process and manage their data anytime from anywhere. These rugged systems consist of data collectors and data loggers for use in diverse applications including industrial, environmental, and life sciences, as well as transportation and warehousing, food processing and storage, and in agriculture.
The base station’s wireless communication range, when unobstructed and direct, ranges out to about 500 feet (150 meters). Downloading recorded data from one full (16,000 readings) Remote Unit into the Base Unit takes only about two minutes. It’s easy to expand the wireless communication range - just place a Repeater between the RTR-500GSM and Remote Units. When using Repeaters and downloading data, the same amount of time noted above is necessary for each Repeater. When a measurement exceeds an upper or lower limit and has been judged by the RTR-500GSM to qualify as a warning, a warning report can be immediately sent via email or SMS to specified e-mail address. Moreover, by connecting a siren or lamp to the external contact output connector when an important warning occurs, the people at the point of measurement can quickly take any necessary action. Recorded data and current readings can be automatically downloaded from Remote Unit(s) at a set interval and that data can then be sent by e-mail or FTP to a designated address.
The RTR-505 series dataloggers adds support for additional thermocouple and RTD sensor types as well as voltage and 4-20mA and pulse signals, increasing the wireless base unit’s functionality across a wide range of applications. All RTR-500GSM units shipped after March will have the new firmware pre-installed. T&D will also be releasing a firmware update for units already in the field. Additionally, T&D also plans to introduce a new version of the 500GSM datalogger in the fall that will be compatible with the RTR-574 Illuminance/UV/Temperature/Humidity data logger as well as the RTR-505V Voltage logger, 505MA, and 505-P Wireless Pulse Datalogger models, expanding its already impressive utility even further.
