Elster has achieved a significant milestone by delivering its one millionth polymer bodied water meter for use in the utility market of Europe. This water meter was provided to Anglian Water, which offers water and wastewater services to over six million business and domestic customers in the eastern part of England.
The polymer bodied water meter technology was developed at the design and manufacturing plant of Elster in the United Kingdom. During 2009, the first V200/V210 volumetric polymer bodied unit was supplied by Elster from the plant. These meters have long-life, highly accurate over a broad operating range together, and cause less ecological impact. They have received approvals from the new European Directive (2004/22/EC) and related European and global standards.
A wireless automated meter reading (AMR) system can be installed in the V200/V210 polymer water meter in order to help water utilities to efficiently handle the water resources, offer superior control over water leak, and deliver precise usage information in real time, thus creating advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) in real for water suppliers. The V210 volumetric polymer water meter from Elster earned a Product Innovation Award in November 2010.
Paul Glass, Anglian Water’s Project Manager, stated that this new V210 polymer volumetric water meter has impressed the company, which is expecting to maintain partnership with Elster.
According to Executive VP of Elster's global water business, Jerry Lauzze, Elster is delighted to work with Anglian Water, which trusts Elster to fulfill their present and future requirements. Anglian Water has also helped the company to attain this significant delivery milestone. He added that this new polymer bodied water meters accurately measures the usage of water and help customers to reach their ecological objectives to decrease carbon emissions across the supply chain.
