Total Organic Carbon Sensor with Intelligent Sensor Management

METTLER TOLEDO, a provider of precision instruments for professional applications, has introduced a total organic carbon (TOC) sensor with intelligent sensor management (ISM).

The 5000TOCi sensor is suitable for continuous monitoring of TOC levels in various applications including reverse osmosis membranes, water for injection, resin bed performance, final rinse water quality, organics shedding and TOC destruct UV lamps’ effectiveness.

The sensor can be used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries for research, drug discovery, quality control and for performing other activities. The 5000TOCi can be combined with Thornton’s M800 multi-parameter ISM transmitter, M800. This transmitter features mix-and-match sensor facility and can integrate on-line TOC measurement with a maximum of four sensors. The Thornton transmitter is available in four and two channel versions. Along with the sensor, it can operate up to four sensors which can be a combination of sensors for dissolved oxygen or ozone, OPR, pH, conductivity and pulsed flow sensors.

The new Thornton 5000TOCi sensor uses a semi-automated process for ensuring consistent results. It uses novel peak and average TOC measurements for simplifying data collection and reducing maintenance of records for water release. The iMonitor user-interface facilitates the requirements for predictive maintenance, through the status of the sensor and diagnostics.

The new 5000TOCi sensor features an automated flow control that prevents the sensitivity to pressure changes to the system, leading to better reliability of real-time TOC analysis.
