Recently, temperature monitoring and alarming solution was presented by CAS DataLoggers to a pharmacy client of global security company. The client received supplementary alarming for three medical refrigerators where temperature -sensitive medicine like amoxicillin are stored.
At the security company, the T&D RTR-500NW Wireless Data Logger Network Base Station was installed and connected near the alarm panel. Then, three T&D RTR-502 Wireless Temperature Data Loggers were mounted on the storage units, with the refrigerators accommodating the external temperature sensor of each logger. The temperature of the fridge was measured in both Fahrenheit and Celcius ranging from -60°C to 155°C range with 0.1°C measurement display resolution. The readings can be viewed on LCD displays in the dataloggers. In addition, screw terminals and wall mount options were also included in the dataloggers.
Through GSM technology, LAN, handheld data collectors, and USB, temperature data can be collected from the loggers remotely. The base station further enabled downloading and sending the data to an e-mail address and also sent warning reports through wireless communication. Sending data to FTP folder or the T&D proprietary WebStorage server can also be enabled. By deploying RTR-500 as a Repeater, the range of wireless communication can be expanded further than 500 ft.
In order to maintain the extended logging time for up to 333 days, users carried out a 30 min recording interval. The battery life of the dataloggers is up to 10 months that can e extended to 4 years of use, when upgraded.
These wireless temperature dataloggers and network base station effectively streamlined the operations in the pharmacy. Furthermore, the new alarm capability installed in the fridge gives specific warnings when doors are opened or when temperature is raised through excessive opening of the door. The integration of monitoring and alarming features therefore prevented inventory loss and extended resupply times.
