Fluke Networks has introduced a new dedicated sensor for Wi-Fi network monitoring that substitutes Ethernet cabling, and promotes up to two thirds cost- efficiency in cable installation-restricting environments.
The SmartEdge Sensor Series 4 for AirMagnet Enterprise features three internal radios and Wireless Connect and allows rapid and easy installation. It provides Wi-Fi security and performance monitoring instantly, ensuring quick coverage for explosive wireless LAN (WLAN) growth and the Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) phenomena.
Fluke Networks WLAN business unit VP, Chia-Chee Kuan said that there is a substantial increase in monitoring coverage and also the demand for Wi-Fi performance are driven by significant increase in BYOD and $1-billion-per-quarter WLAN growth. The SmartEdge sensor extends a solution to enable network monitoring by removing roadblocks resulting from Ethernet cabling.
In situations with already available Ethernet cable, the new SmartEdge Sensor is capable of manipulating internal radios including two 802.11n 3x3 MIMO 450 Mbps plus one for dedicated spectrum analysis, thereby ensuring consistent security monitoring, rogue detection, and scanning, integrated with client performance verification through AirMagnet Enterprise's Automated Health Check (AHC) feature. AHC performs proactive testing and validation of WLAN network health from the end-user device extending to the cloud, and ensures early detection of issues.
The SmartEdge sensor has also been redesigned with a "fade-into-the background" enclosure, in addition to featuring improved memory capacity and support for 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet.
The new SmartEdge Sensor Series 4 for AirMagnet Enterprise is now available.
