Mantracourt, a provider of instrumentation for strain gauges, torque transducers, temperature sensors, flow sensors, pressure sensors, load cells, and for signal conditioning, has introduced a bridge completion module (SGABCM) for its SGA load cell conditioner.
The SGABCM enables connection of a quarter or half-bridge strain gauge to the load cell conditioner. It is a small retro-fit PCB that can be installed easily. It can be attached to the existing load cell connector using screws. The SGABCM features on-board screw terminal connections that are compatible with different types of bridge completion resistors.
Mantracourt's SGA strain gauge amplifier is designed for multiple as well as single strain gauge bridge sensors. These include pressure, torque, load, and force sensors. The device works on both AC and DC power supply. It has the ability to provide excitation for strain gauge bridges of up to 4 x 350 W.
The bridge completion module enables connection of a wide range of sensors. It has high stability resistors of 5 ppm/°C that are fixed to the bridge’s arms. A ‘shunt calibration’ shunt resistor can be fitted through the screw terminals. This helps verify the state of the strain gauges and the wiring and calibration. A miniature 24 V relay can be fitted to the BCM and it can be energized for performing a ‘remote shunt calibration.’ Further, simultaneous shunt calibration can be performed on multiple SGAs within an installation.
