Advanced Navigation announced today the release of their Orientus product line. Orientus is a ruggedized miniature orientation sensor and AHRS that provides accurate orientation under the most demanding conditions. It combines temperature calibrated accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers in a sophisticated fusion algorithm to deliver accurate and reliable orientation.
Orientus is available in both a heavily ruggedized version and an OEM version designed to be integrated into customer's products. The ruggedized version of Orientus is enclosed in a precision marine grade aluminium enclosure that is waterproof and dirtproof to the IP68 standard and shockproof to 2000g, allowing it to be used in the most extreme conditions. Despite being rugged, Orientus is tiny, measuring just 30x41x24 mm.
Orientus is the first orientation sensor in the world to provide temperature calibrated dynamic ranging sensors. With three different range levels for the accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers, Orientus can be configured for high accuracy static applications or high dynamics on the fly.
Orientus's internal filter runs at 1000Hz and data can also output at this rate over high speed RS232. This allows for control of dynamically unstable platforms. Orientus has been designed from the ground up for reliability, with many safety measures in place, allowing for peace of mind in control applications.
Orientus contains innovative algorithms to mitigate both the effects of magnetic interference and linear accelerations, making it able to maintain accurate orientation through the most difficult conditions.
