One of the leading independent technology vendors in Europe, Scan Computer International, has recently installed a high-resolution, IP-enabled video surveillance system at Bolton, England, in their head office. Scan had aimed to leverage the ability of the megapixel video surveillance camera to capture a scene’s minute details.
The new IP-enabled system that was designed by associate technology development partner of Scan, J2K Vision, replaces a conventional analog CCTV system. It incorporates Arecont Vision’s megapixel IP cameras. Arecont is the top vendor of IP-enabled megapixel cameras in the industry. Scan uses the AV1300M (1.3MP) models of Arecont for monitoring vital entrance and exit locations, while the warehouse aisles are monitored by Arecont’s the AV3100M (3MP) and AV2100M (2MP) cameras. Scan’s external areas deploy a combination of AV5100DN (5MP), AV3100DN (3MP) and AV5100M day/night cameras, along with license plate and face recognition software.
Arecont provides the widest range of megapixel IP cameras in the industry, from 1.3 to 10 megapixel cameras in color or day/night versions, besides the 8 megapixel panoramic cameras. It offers megapixel performance at price points that are comparable to those of IP VGA-based cameras, thereby opening a wider range of applications for the technology. Arecont integrates H.264 compression with the proprietary image processing for offering increased compression efficiency for overcoming issues related to storage bandwidth and storage implications of megapixel technology.
The replacement system was also designed by J2K based on SharpView systems, besides megapixel cameras of Arecont. SharpView systems are also used to develop advanced technologies using software of J2K Video.
Arecont Vision’s Senior Vice President of International Sales, Steven Sarfati informed that the installation at the Scan Computer International testifies the success of Arecont’s business practices and technology.
J2K Video’s Co-Founder Jay Patel revealed that the new system played a key role in the reduction of onsite crime with immediate effect. He explained that Scan could provide exceptional incident-related video evidence to the police. He added that the megapixel cameras’ video quality has resulted in the reduction of many problems and disputes like shrinkage due to internal theft or short shipments by delivery personnel.
