Geokinetics will shortly announce its second series of the ‘transportable 4 component (4C) ocean bottom cable (OBC) crew’ for the Canadian Arctic.
Geokinetics’ Chief Executive Officer and President, Richard F. Miles, informed that Geokinetics has completed the ocean trials of the ‘Air Transportable" 4C OBC crew’ that is the first of its kind in the world. Miles explained that this distinctive crew can be deployed world over to deal with challenging E&P situations within days, irrespective of whether it is ice or land locked. He added that that the crew will prove to be logistical game transformer for the E&P customers of the company. It uses the new generation SeaRay 4C OBC solution of Sercel and the proprietary Geotiger Series II Marine Fleet along with its automatic handling systems.
Ever since the commencement of April, 2010, Geokinetics has received contract awards worth nearly $80 million for several new projects in the United States, South America, West and Central Africa.
Miles informed that Geokinetics is thrilled to secure so much of additional work contracts during the last couple of months. He revealed that these works include acquisition schemes in multi-client, land, and TZ shallow water commitments located within the Marcellus Shale play. He clarified that these awards do not include the contract of nearly $80 million for three shallow water OBC schemes that were disclosed by Geokinetics in the 2010 first quarter.
There is an increasing demand for the company’s service, more so in the Far East and Latin America and the Far East, besides the multi-client work in some of the US’ shale plays. The company is also negotiating for larger contract opportunities that are likely to be awarded during the next few weeks.
