Apricorn has released a new line of biometric products, the Aegis Bio 640GB which can securely store data with a touch screen display to enter data files.
Even if the equipment is wrecked, the information is cached in the drive which is safeguarded by Bio’s 128-bit AES hardware encryption, using an oxford semiconductor storage controller chip. The whole kit is composed of a software CD, an auxiliary Y cable, a quick start guide, a neoprene travel pouch and an integrated USB 2.0 cable.
According to Vice President Mike McCandless, Sales & Marketing, Apricorn, the necessity for safe and handy storage equipments is imminent due the data infringement cases in 2010. At present, most of the workforce either works on the move or work somewhere midway between the office and home, sharpening the need for methods of protecting data, which is when the Aegis Bio comes in.
The Aegis Bio’s durable make encompasses a compact drive covered in several layers. Initially, the users have to record their fingerprint by using UPEK’s Touch strip Fingerprint Sensor to gain access to the Aegis Bio. The next step is to login by fingerprinting, making use of a software known as Protector Suite Token created by UPEK.As the data is stored in an encrypted form, its safety is assured even if the fingerprint sensor proves to be faulty. The Aegis Bio is available in different densities that range between 250 and 640 GB all over the U.S., Canada and even online through stockists.
