New innovations in the wearables sector have been largely restricted due to power and size constraints. However, the Nano Hornet overcomes previous drawbacks in terms of size and is suitable for wearables requiring miniature components. OriginGPS' CEO, Gal Jacobi, also stated that the Nano Hornet would also benefit Internet of Things devices.
The Nano Hornet module boasts a record height of 3.8mm, and a miniature 10x10mm outline. It offers high tracking sensitivity of 163dBm. The Time To First Fix(TTFF) is high at below one second and the accuracy is within 2m.
The module utilizes OriginGPS’ proprietary and patented Noise Free Zone NFZ technology that guarantees noise immunity and excellent sensitivity even when the signal is very low. The patch antenna and GNSS receiver are combined into a single module in the Hornet GPS/GNSS antenna module product family.
The Nano Hornet demonstrates near continuous availability by detecting modifications in satellite signals, temperature and context. It consumes very low power while updating its satellite ephemeris data, frequency and internal fine time.
OriginGPS' Nano Hornet module integrates the company's low-profile GPS antenna with TCXO, SAW filter, RF LDO, RTC crystal and RF shield with SiRFstarIV™ GPS SoC and dual-stage LNA. As the Nano Hornet is available as an integrated module, it would enable developers to create novel products, commercialize the same in the shortest possible time, while reducing expensive design risks.
