DASH7 Automotive Working Group to be Chaired by Melexis

Melexis, a semiconductor company operating in the RFID market, has taken the role as co-chair of the recently established Automotive Working Group in the DASH7 Alliance, which is a non-profit consortium promoting the ISO 18000-7 standard’s usage meant for wireless sensor networking.

Melexis, as an active DASH7 Alliance member, works closely with over 50 organizations across the globe to promote the ISO 18000-7 (DASH7) standard’s development.

As co-chair of the DASH7 Automotive Working Group, the mission of Melexis is to develop a roadmap to bring DASH7 into different automotive markets and applications. The DASH7 Alliance President Patrick Burns commented that DASH7 has immense potential in automotive applications such as tire pressure monitoring as well as other in-vehicle wireless communications.

Products equipped with DASH7 wireless sensor networking capability ease the manner in which users connect with each other. DASH7, operating in the 433 MHz spectrum, provides multi-kilometer range, security and sensor support, tag-to-tag communications and multi-year battery life. Operating on one global frequency, DASH7 devices are interoperable "out of the box" irrespective of application.
