Elbit Systems has introduced a unique Multi Sensor for fully automated satellite operations. The multi sensor’s application in satellite is in its closing stages of launching.
The IDF section which deals with the satellite imagery study and photography has opted for multi sensor system to systematize the space industry. This multi sensor system is predicted to maneuver the operations and requisites of other satellites.
According to Danny, the manager of Elbit Systems’ Intelligence Infrastructure, upon transmission of a request to the sensor system for photographs, the system will program the orientation of satellite at the relevant time, harmonizing the weather condition and locus for maximum coverage of the precise area aimed for taking photos. He also commented that it consumed more time in managing all the eight IDF satellites manually, and was a tedious task for the Intelligence Corps to deal with all the parameters at a time according to the preference order. The use of multi sensor system now has enhanced the easiness of their operations, he added.
One of the operators at the IDF mentioned that the sensor can detect the directions of satellites predicting visibility and weather factors thereby resolving the complexity of manually operated systems in taking photographs and controlling other parameters.
