Voxtel in Beaverton has introduced a new product called Deschutes BSI avalanche photodiodes (APD), for instantaneous retailing in the market. Deschutes BSI APDs consists of a back illuminating APD, mounted on ceramic sub-mounts, alongside a temperature sensor.
These are much more responsive (responsivity ranging greater than 1.0A/W at 1550 nm and a value of 0.73A/W at 1064nm with 3-20% operating gains) and have a lower capacitance, in contrast to the front illuminating APDs. When compared to the traditional InGaAs/InP APDs, these InGaAs/InAlAs APDs are created for producing 40% less surfeit din, and have a less than 0.2 equivalent ionization co-efficient of Keff, making them perfect for LADAR (Laser Radar), optical communications, Laser range-finding and LIDAR processes. Due to its low capacitance, it is ideal for applications with high-bandwidth.
These series are ready for use in three different diameter versions: 30, 75 & 200µm, in airtight packs or in submounts. A thermo-electric cooling option is also available, enveloped into photo-receivers, with fiber pigtails as an added option.
