Maxim Integrated Products Introduces Integrated Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor

Maxim Integrated Products has launched the MAX44000, an infrared proximity and digital ambient-light sensor that detects light like the human eye. This sensor’s IC integrates two ADCs, three optical sensors, and digital functionality into a tiny 2 x 2 x 0.6 mm package to offer optical fusion and unparalleled light-sensing performance.

Ultrasensitive Method Paves Way to Develop Next-Generation Detectors

A research team led by Professor Arno Rauschenbeutel Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology, in partnership with the researchers at the Johannes Gutenberg University has developed an ultrasensitive method by controllably coupling single atoms to light within ultra-thin fiber glass having a thickness of 500 nm, paving the way to develop detectors that are capable of sensing ultra-trace amounts of materials.
