BAE Systems, a global security and defence company, has announced the delivery of its 20,000th warning sensor for airborne protection of military aircraft.
BAE Systems had partnered with ATK and the Navy NAVAIR program office for delivery of the sensor to the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and allied missile warning systems.
The sensors provide warning systems for air-to-air and surface-to-air missile threats. The laser detection sensors have the ability to process the detected warnings in real-time, allowing direct and automated response to the threats. The sensors contain signal processing units and detectors for processing the warnings.
Since 1998, BAE Systems has been providing sensor parts to improve the Navy’s AN/AAR-47 missile warning systems. It has received over $100 million in orders for the sensor sub-system.
BAE Systems; Program Manager, Scotty Burch stated that the support provided by the company in this important program delivered enhanced efficiency, reduced expenditure and increased protection for air crew members.
