Balluff Introduces BIP Inductive Position Sensors for Linear Motion Applications

A sensor and systems manufacturer, Balluff has developed a BIP linear inductive position sensor. For position monitoring, the sensor features an absolute measuring principle whereby it can be used in applications such as clamping devices and drive spindles.

The BIP position sensor can be used in linear motion applications as well. This includes valve positions, grab positions, rolling positions and punch depth measurements.

The sensor is of non-contact type and up to 40mm of linear travel can be detected using the BIP sensor. For optimal process quality, the BIP sensor offers a 14 µm high resolution, a +/- 80 µm repeat accuracy and +/- 250 µm non linearity. The inductive positioning BIP sensor offers 0-10 V and 4-20mA output options along with a high level of repeat reliability and accuracy that guarantees unmatched process quality in cramped locations as well.

The Balluff BIP sensor offers the flexibility to adapt on site reducing the need to mechanically adjust the sensor for different applications. The measurement ranges can be easily set based on the desired application. This feature can also be controlled using the control system since the sensor integrates an IO-Link variant.

Baluff manufactures vision, photoelectric, magnetic, capacitive and inductive sensors along with RFID systems, linear position transducers and networking products. Baluff products for factory floor and OEm solutions are used to assemble, automate, regulate, monitor and position assembly, manufacturing and packaging sequences for industries that include plastics, automotive, aerospace, electrical, medical, electronics etc.
