Reliant Energy, a subsidiary of NRG and a provider of electricity and energy-related products, has been distributing the Reliant e-Sense Home Energy Monitor absolutely free of cost to over 3,500 for its low income and early-adopter customers located in the in Houston and Dallas regions in an effort to help them make smart energy decisions. Reliant Energy will be distributing an additional 6500 monitors.
The innovative e-Sense Energy Monitors provide customers with real-time electricity cost and usage information. The e-Sense display monitor will be showcased at CES 2012 being held in Nevada, Las Vegas.
The Vice President –Customer Care at Reliant Energy, Bill Clayton stated that customers can become aware of their energy bill and take conscious decisions with the smart meter technology.
The energy usage data is updated on the e-Sensemonitor in 10 sec intervals, thus allowing the customers to examine how much electricity that each electricity device consumes. The weekly or daily usage data can be compared by the customer to gain a better understanding of the electricity usage and its related costs.
The e-Sense Weekly Summary email and the e-Sense Time-of-Use plan are other smart energy solutions from Reliant Energy which provides customers not only tips to improve energy efficiency but also helps them plan when to carry out their high-usage activities to save more money.
At CES 2012, Reliant Energy will also showcase other solutions that can help create a better sustainable living. Visitors at the Consumer Electronics Show will see first-hand how the monitor, along with other smart energy solutions, solar power and electric vehicle charging come together to give consumers the convenience and power to create a more sustainable energy lifestyle.
