The Sensors Expo & Conference 2013 was held on June 6-7, in Rosemont, IL at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. The event showcased sensors, sensing technologies and sensor-integrated systems. Over 4,000 scientists, engineers and industry professionals took part in the conference.
More than 150 companies exhibited on the Expo floor. Buyers qualified in sensing technology visited the exhibition. Sensors Expo & Conference had joined with mTribeApps to introduce the Sensors Expo Mobile App, which was utilized by exhibitors and people who attended the event. The Mobile App served as an onsite navigational and pre-show planning tool during the event.
Wireless, Big Data & Cloud and other such new and emerging technologies were featured at the event. Exosite, SQLstream and MicroStrain showcased Big Data & Cloud technologies and companies including Anaren, Freescale, SenseAware and North Pole Engineering demonstrated wireless technologies.
Free educational sessions were presented by Nextreme Thermal Solutions, PCB Piezotronics, microGen, iC Haus Integrated Circuits, MicroStrain, MICRONAS, Linear Technology and Infinite Power Solutions at the Sensors Magazine Live Theater. Winners of the Sensors 2012 "Best of Sensors Expo Awards" were honored on June 6 in the theater by the Executive Editor of Sensors, Melanie Martella. MicroStrain, austriamicrosystems, MEMSIC and InvenSense were some of the winners.
Assaf Biderman, the Associate Director of SENSEable City Laboratory, presented the opening-day keynote address. The presentation was about data capturing methods and sensors and their role in creating new connections between buildings and people – "the human-computer-city interface". The Director of Embedded, ARM, Willard Tu, stated that the trends in sensors, software and networks will become "the Internet of Things."
The Pre-Conference symposia and more than 60 other sessions covered topics in MEMS, wireless sensing, measurement & detection, energy harvesting, mobile sensing, RFID/M2M, applied sensors, big data & analytics, and sensor and system design.
