Maxim Integrated Products Introduces Four New Optical Sensors

Maxim Integrated Products declared that its sensor line has been expanded with the addition of four, new digital optical sensors that strengthen analog integration with sensor fusion.

The MAX44004/05/06/08 is capable of measuring ambient visible light (ALS), red/green/blue (RGB) light levels, sensor proximity, temperature, and ambient infrared (IR) levels. A single compact optical package consists of seven sensors. Each of the MAX44005/MAX44006/MAX44008 utilizes an industry-low 20uA. The sensors ensure reliable and repeatable measurements. This improved integration simplifies design, minimizes system cost, and eliminates the addition of several external components.

These optical sensors are ideal for deployment in a wide variety of applications including displays, smartphones, tablets, portable consumer devices, medical devices, digital light management, and security systems.

Optical sensors ensure higher levels of integration. The MAX44006/MAX44008 combines RGB color sensors with a clear ALS, an ambient IR, and temperature sensors. The MAX44004 is a low-power ALS that utilizes only 5uA, and the MAX44005 consists of an RGB color sensor combined with an ALS (clear), ambient IR, IR proximity, and temperature sensors.

The MAX44005/MAX44006/MAX44008 operates effectively over the -400C to +850C temperature range, whereas MAX44004 ensures perfect operation over the -400C to +1050C temperature range.

All sensors are being offered in a 2x2x 0.6 mm optical package.
