The Sensors Division of the MTS Systems Corporation has advanced the product line of their linear R-Series position sensors by raising the length of the pipe version, which is flexible and doubled.
The contact-free, RF position sensor of the Temposonics Model allows integration into constricted spaces with an extended calibration ranging to 20 m. This unique sensor model can perform in curved angles monitoring curvilinear dimensions within 200 mm radii.
According to Matt Hankinson, the technical marketing manager, MTS Sensors, this particular sensor can be mounted or detached even in limited machine spaces. He added that the contact-free, easy- operated, flexible sensor can monitor linear measurements on a curve as well as lengthy lines, enhancing the whole sensor line applications for a variety of purposes.
The RF position sensors can perform wide applications in the dam gate cylinders, windmills, stamping and forming presses and multi-tool position monitoring for large routers, slitters, and punch presses.
The high efficiency internal electronic device embedded in the sensor head ensures precise monitoring even at lengthier measurements. The sensing system can determine finest motions owing to its repeatability in 0.0025 mm range with a linear deviation in the range of less than or equal to plus or minus 0.02 % F.S. The model with a selection of output is also supplied with several interfaces like EtherCAT, Analog, CANbus, Profibus-DP, POWERLINK and SSI. A single sensor of this model can monitor a maximum of 30 different positions values or five velocity and five displacement measurements.
