UCLA Engineers Develop Cell Phone-Based Fluorescent Imaging Sensor for E. coli Detection

A team of researchers from the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science have created a fluorescent imaging platform capable of detecting the bacterium Escherichia Coli in water in food. The novel cell phone-based sensor is a compact and lightweight attachment that can be fixed to any cell-phone camera.

Orbital Sciences Receives Thermal Infrared Sensor Developed for Landsat Satellite

NASA has announced that the latest NASA satellite instrument featuring infrared detector technology has arrived at Orbital Sciences’ Gilbert facility located in Arizona. The Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) will be integrated into a Landsat satellite, part of the Landsat Data Continuity Mission for the collection of high resolution imagery and data of the surface of the planet.
